I birded north of Royal Ave. (walk west to nearly the water then walk north approx. 1/4 mile) this evening 6:30 to 8pm. Lots of soft mud, but not many shorebirds.

The light was ok since I was never really looking into the sun, but instead north most of the time. Quite frankly I think the birds that were there and reported from yesterday and this morning must have moved on.

I had a mere handful of Least Sandpipers, one Killdeer, and 9 flyover Semipalmated Plovers. One Osprey came by and stirred up all 12 of the birds still present. Whooopeee!

There were 8 Caspian Terns roosting on a log with some gulls out in the lake. Oh yes, there was a large group of Am.White Pelicans also roosting a ways to the north. I didn't count them or count or sift through the gulls that were present.

The best birds seen this evening were the one SNOWY EGRET seen standing alongside a Great Egret, and one COMMON TERN roosting alongside the Caspians. It was an adult in alternate plumage, the Common that is.

More wind this evening. Not as many mosquitoes.
