Earlier in the month an adult Blue-footed Booby was found in critical
condition on the I-5 bridge between the Oregon mainland and Hayden Island
(which is in Oregon). It was reported to ODFW by a motorist as being a Bald
Eagle. The bird was taken to the Dove Lewis Animal Hospital where it was
identified as a Double-crested Cormorant. Upon being taken to Portland
Audubon's wildlife rehab center it was identified as a Blue-footed Booby. It
was alive at Portland Audubon from August 15 through August 20. Harry Nehls
saw and photographed the frozen specimen today. Harry said that there were
indications that the bird is the
same one that had been seen in the Puget Sound area a few weeks ago. This
is the second record of the species for Oregon.
