Graham Floyd and I saw the juv. Ruff (probably a female) in the ponds along
the Dotterel Dike out the south jetty road at Florence today, Sunday 27th.
It was escorted by one each of Yellowlegs and a Killdeer.

Foggy in a.m. And windy by mid-day. Shorebird variety was pretty good but
numbers low. Around the florence flats we also had:

Baird's - 1
Western - 10
Least - 25
Pectoral - 2
Semi Plover - 2
Marbled Godwit - 2 at crab dock cove
Red-necked Phalarope - probably 40 all told, small wads everywhere, mostly
in flight.

We also had 12 ospreys in sight at once near the crab dock, quite a sight.

Water levels out the dotterel dike are perfect for shorebirds right now and
will only get better through September. Likewise the Dog Pond on south
jetty road, where we saw a bittern, 2 green herons, yellowlegs and least.
Should be a super pectoral hole this fall.

Birds of Lane County will be out in one week....
