Thought I would take a closer look at the Goldfinches in the yard...just Lessers.  But, other events of interest here just east of the Merlin I-5 exit (Josephine Co) on 12-02-06;

OAK TITMOUSE taking items OUT of a Wren nesting box. Now that's different, we watch for birds to take items into a nest box. Perhaps cleaning up to spend cool winter night in.

BUSHTIT family, feeding on Poison Oak seeds (and you thought P.Oak was bad!)

head of WESTERN SCREECH OWL peering from the entrance of a large nesting box.

a Falcon fly-by, didn't see it really good, but likely a Merlin.

...and the usual big bunch of Juncos (Oregon-type, one feeding the thistle sack) and Golden-crowned Sparrows.

Dennis (north of Grants Pass)
