Poison-oak is great (unless I touch it). I have a list of many bird
and mammal species all across the country that utilize poison-oak.
Sometimes it is the berries and sometimes (as in the case of deer) it
is the foliage. When the City of Eugene was planning their
restoration work around Delta Ponds and wanting to replant with
native species, I encouraged them to consider using this plant. Not
only is it a native species that is utilized by some wildlife but it
also helps keep people from sensitive areas. Some of the people
involved agreed that it was a good idea but I don't think they will
ever deliberately plant it. It was already present so I am sure that
it will come up again on its own.
