        We saw the female LONG-TAILED DUCK and the EARED GREBE on the
Washougal Sewage Lagoons today, Saturday Dec. 2, first at 8:30 this
morning while awaiting a group of volunteers to show up for a habitat
restoration shrub planting out on the Steigerwald Refuge. Most of the
volunteers also wanted to see the bird so we returned to the lagoons and
put the scopes on this beauty at 12:30.
        There were 17 WESTERN MEADOWLARKS out on the refuge and we had a
tantalizing  glimpse of a large falcon that may have been a Gyrfalcon
from the size. Last week another volunteer team leader on the refuge saw
a large falcon but didn't have time to get his binoculars on it.
