OBOL,
Easiest bird in OR I've not seen? Have to be FALCATED DUCK. I haven't driven over to the pond and have someone point it out to me yet. Before that it was BRISTLE-THIGHED CURLEW, but one spring I drove over and saw one. It was easy. I drove all night, slept in the car, got up and there it was. Not so easy was the time I drove all night to see a DUSKY-CAPPED FLYCATCHER at Newport. It wasn't so easy as it wasn't on the same limb as the previous day. (I was almost more impressed with many observers I encountered that day, which paled compared to what I encounter in Klamath Co.)
OK, kidding aside, PURPLE MARTIN. Occurs to south in Siskiyou Co., CA, but has not been seen in Klamath Co. for possibly 20 or more years. Habitat changes and Starling competition have probably pushed it out of area. Maybe someday I will see one in Klamath County, (Or, maybe I could drive over to Williamette Valley and see one for Oregon, but that might be TOO easy)
