I believe I digiscoped a Mallard x Wood Duck drake hybrid in Kellogg Creek today, as first called to my attention by Scott Carpenter's post on OBOL several wks ago from Crystal Springs. Depending on how rare an event, it could be his bird, relocated. Field marks are: orangier eye iris, no white neck band, sides same color as Wood Duck's (yellowish with fine black lines) not white, rear flank quite tan-orange but solid, not orange streaky like Wood Duck, slight trailing head crest with slight whitish swoosh along it. This could be a Kellogg Creek native as both species are here together year round, and sometimes mating within few feet of each other. Photo available.
