[obol] Bend birding advice needed

I am finishing up a job in Bend and finally have some time to get out and look for birds!  Can anyone suggest areas nearby where I would see waterfowl?  I am also interested in woodpeckers, or anything that is more of a central Oregon specialty, that I probably would not encounter back in Portland.

I have two days at the end of the week to get out and explore.  Any advice is welcome!
