Anna's Hummingbirds display to defend feeding territories. They
sing year-round and display (with "pops") any time they feel like
it. I found them displaying on Clatsop Plains in June and July
and at Coxcomb Hill in September.

The actual breeding phenologies in the newly conquered territories
to the north are unclear. There may not even be a "breeding season".
They may be adventitious breeders (like starlings) and breed whenever
the sum of conditions in an area are suitable. Breeding season
in California goes from November to June and is probably tied to
availabilty of nectaring plants. Nests have been found in July in
British Columbia.
