Hello Kim,

My two favorites are "Birding by Ear - Western" and the Peterson audio guide. The former is better for beginners, as it's a how-to guide -- tells you what to listen for, how to listen effectively, etc. The latter is just a recitation of species and their songs and, usually, calls. They're both 2-CD sets.

There's also a nice 2-CD set called "Bird Songs of the Pacific States", which has recordings organized by habitat. The habitat arrangement sounds better than it is, since so many species occupy several habitats and you end up having to jump around on the disc to get what you want to hear.

And if you lived in the Willamette Valley I'd recommend Don Boucher's CD of bird sounds, "Yard Birds of the Willamette Valley" (http://neighborhood-naturalist.com/neighborhood-naturalist_books-cd.htm). But you don't....

Hi Folks,

Can someone suggest good source(s) for Western US Bird Sounds and Songs?

Is anyone familiar with the Stokes CD for Western Birds and is it a good one?
Thanks in advance.
