Melia,

It was first seen by Terry Morse on a beach in Newport between the Nye Beach
turnaround and the north jetty.....photographs were taken and viewed by Range
Bayer, one of our local birding experts, who confirmed it. A visiting birder
from Texas saw it on the north jetty last Sat about where the jetty lines up
with the beach (although he mistakenly posted it was the south jetty - he was
viewing it FROM the south jetty and evidently had a pretty good view of it).
I've seen it twice for sure (including one time up close and personal) way east
of the back dune ridge at South Beach SP in a tree each time (the north end
adjacent to the south jetty)....and I think again today although it was too
foggy to say 100% for sure. There was another posting where someone thought
they saw it near the handicap trail of South Beach SP (south end). Hope this
