[obol] Gull harassing

I've received several emails encouraging me to report the 2 scumbags who were
harassing the gulls at the south jetty Fri. I would be happy to do this except
unfortunately there was no license plate! AND I had no camera that day. I would
have done more had the gulls not chased them away with their own personal
weapon.

I talked to several people last year when the Snowy Owl was in town about
approaching too close etc, especially photographers, and most people were quite
receptive. Over the years, I've always tried to educate people who really don't
know any better....like tourists who want to take live starfish home as a
souvenir (I've lost count on how many times this has happened) or the people
who were scraping the sea anemones off the rocks to "dry them like flowers"
(try to explain to people what a dried-up sea anemone really looks like) or the
people (Darwin Award candidates - and there's a lot of them) who think it's fun
to feed alligators or the kids who had collected a bunch of hermit crabs from
the tidepools in a marine sanctuary to take home to their FRESH water tank or
the kids who thought it would be loads of fun to climb ON the harbor seals or
the tourists who thought it was a great idea to KILL the eagle because it was
attacking the murres, etc, etc, etc, etc.......but when I see the deliberate
ill-intent I saw Fri, I wholeheartedly agree the only course of action is to
report them if you can (or bomb them with poop - go gulls!).
