Today Robin Gage and I did the raptor route between Harrisburg and Coburg.
We started in somewhat showery weather, but the showers stopped early on
so we had a rain-free route for most of the day.
RED-TAILED HAWK numbers were low in November, and they were even lower
today. The AMERICAN KESTREL count was slightly higher. We found a
ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK along Powerline Road between Dale and Herman Roads.
There were 6 BALD EAGLES, with just one immature in the tally. We found 3
NORTHERN HARRIERS. A falcon of some sort was just too far away to
identify. It was definitely larger than a kestrel.
One of the RED-TAILED HAWKS was feasting on a skunk in a field near
Coburg.
