One winter in the late sixties the faculty
and graduate students of the Soils Dept. at OSU
rented a farm north of Finley for duck hunting.
My father's major professor snuck up on a pond
and shot at the sitting ducks. When they did
not fly he shot again. They were all plastic,
the property of an Hawaiian graduate student.
To my knowledge the professor in question
has never voluntarily divulged the story.
