Stuart Janes at Southern Oregon State University (College?) studies the 
songs of Hermit and Black-throated Gray Warbers. He gave a talk at PSU a 
few years ago that addressed the similarities in the songs of the two 
species. Hermits definitely mimic BTYW songs. He played Hermit songs 
that sounded just like BTYW songs to my ear, and I had just come off a 
summer of point counts where I was hearing them often.

I don't know that he has published his results yet.
