[obol] Caspian Tern Juvenal arrival

Suzanna spotted the first CASPIAN TERN fledgling of the season at the 
mouth of the Necaicum River Estuary today (Clatsop Co.; 12 July 2006). I 
scanned the flocks of a couple hundred adults for others, but there 
seemed to be only the one juvenal. More CALIFORNIA GULL juvenals showed 
up today, even along the Necanicum at the end of my street (Avenue I). 
HEERMAN'S GULL numbers are increasing on the Seaside Beach. The small 
wreck of northern anchovies was along the tideline this evening. The 
gulls were not interested in them as they have already stuffed 
themselves with the abundant live ones. If you want to see BROWN 
PELICANS up close and personal, Seaside is the place. You can be within 
50 feet of them easily as they are hunting the fish in the surf just out 
from the tideline. Many are roosting on the beaches as well.
