Volunteer Opportunities

The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife needs a few enthusiastic birders to

monitor Band-tailed Pigeons coming to springs. There will be 2 days of

monitoring. The first in late july; the second in September. The specific days are of

your own choosing, in most cases. The monitoring day begins at sunrise and ends

at noon. The monitoring is like a "Big Sit". All of the observations are made from a

fixed location. Some of the sites require 2 monitors. If you are interested contact:

Nancy Taylor at 541-757-4186 ext. 226 In Adair Village north of Corvallis

Nancy has a site nr. Airlie
Or contact

Chris Yee at 541-726-3515 ext. 27 in Springfield

Sites are available from Chris in Cheshire, Fall Creek, and Weyco

Volunteers are needed for this and subsequent years. Volunteers will be able to

see hundreds of pigeons and, very often, see the raptors which come to those busy

locations. Think abour it volunteers. Tom Nelson (a 4th year volunteer)
