Hi OBOL,

I used to have the same impression of the seasonal elevational
differences in junco distribution.
That was until juncos began nesting in my SW Corvallis backyard 6-8
years ago. The golf course fairways are close by, and the yard is
bordered by arborvitae, laural, a couple of grand firs, and western red
cedar. Inside the yard is an orchard of big old apple trees.
Similar elements to what others have mentioned.....
