[obol] Silly Juncos

OBOL,

I love this list! People are always willing to share
and I always learn a lot.

Since we moved into our new house (4 years ago, and
3/4 of a mile north of our old house)we have kept a
bird journal. We have NEVER had a junco sighting this
early in the year. We are 100 yards from the
Willamette River off of River Road in Eugene.  

Occasionally when we head higher up in the hills we
would see juncos around, but never in the yard until
about September. I just assumed that ALL of them took
off for higher ground.  

The variety of locations and nest spots that people
are reporting is fascinating.  

Thanks for all the comments about those silly juncos!
Guess I need to keep an open mind and eye, and not
categorize things so readily...
