[obol] Coos Birdies 7/25/06

Out on the North Spit of Coos Bay I saw the following
shorebirds:

~800 WESTERN SANDPIPERS (adults)
50+ SEMIPALMATED PLOVERS
~30 LEAST SANDPIPERS (adults)

and one each of:
SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPER (adult)
RED-NECKED PHALAROPE
SANDERLING

Also, on 7/23 I found a female CINNAMON TEAL with six
little ones, only the 5th breeding record I know of in
Coos County.

I suspect the Wilson's Phalaropes that nested out here
this year did not fledge any young, no juvie birds
have been seen and neither have any adults for a few
weeks.
