[obol] First juvenal Heerman's Gull

The HEERMAN'S GULLS are staging daily on the apartment roofs and in the 
Necanicum River at the east end of my street (Avenue I in Seaside, 
Clatsop Co.) again this year. Yesterday something flushed them while I 
was in my yard and there were suddenly upwards of 100 of them sailing 
above my home. Today I went down to the river and saw that a juvenal 
(hatch year) bird had joined the throng--the first I have seen this 
year. While I have been seening 1st summer birds for weeks now, this 
feathers of this bird's plumage were all neatly edged in pale giving the 
bird a very handsome look, like a very dark juvenal California Gull. 
These birds should be increasing through the next month or so.
