edition, which includes subspecies.  $29

Bailey, Vernon.  1936.   Mammals and Life Zones of Oregon.  The definitive
historical reference, extremely detailed with maps, 400-page paperbound.  A
gorgeous copy, with minor water stains to back cover and a few adjacent
pages.  $42

Frye, T.  1956 printing.  Ferns of the Northwest.  175-page hardbound, many
illustrations.  Has a mildew smell but is solid and clean.  $14

Gabrielson and Jewett.  1940.  Birds of Oregon.  The original, an excellent
copy, slight smell of mildew.  $39

Jobanek, G.  1997.  Annotated Bibliography of Oregon bird literature before
1935.  The definitive reference.  Crisp, clean copy, usually $60.  $33

Kofalk, Harriet. 1989.  No Woman Tenderfoot: Florence Merriam Bailey,
Pioneer Naturalist.  A superb book, this is a near-fine copy with DJ.
Bailey was the first woman named a fellow of the AOU. $18

Lutts, Ralph. 1990.  The Nature Fakers.  Fascinating account of the public
squabbles between John Burroughs, Ernest Thompson Seton and others 100 years
ago, regarding whose writing about the natural world was genuine and whose
was not.
