Hello,

7/30/06 Corvallis, Willamette Park
The Audubon Society of Corvallis had its Bicycle Birding trip on a
pleasant morning. No extraordinary birds but good birding nonetheless. We
observe a couple dozen species. Theresa Hogue from the Gazette-Times came
along with a photographer and you may read about it in Monday's
newspaper.

There were about a dozen bicyclists and we got good looks at an Osprey
eating a fish. There was a family of Green Herons around the Willamette
River which we observed from the steep riverbank in the vicinity of the
soccer fields and disc golf area. Lisa and I had observed a pair of Green
Herons there this spring building a nest in the nearby trees and we
suspect that the juveniles observed that day are their progeny.

Future Bicycle Birding trips this summer

Aug 27 Sunday, Meet at the Avery Park Rose Garden. Destination—OSU
Covered Bridge and the Fairgrounds. (in association with August in
Motion)

Sept 24 Sunday, Meet at the Avery Park Rose Garden. Destination—Philomath
via bike path.

All trips are 9 AM–noon. Easy and flat ride of 3-10 miles. We'll poke
along and find birds in every nook and cranny. Bring water, binoculars
and rain gear. Led by Don Boucher at 753-7689 or bouchdon at juno.com.
