Today I stopped by Lane Memorial Gardens to check the horde of Cackling Geese and found a juvenile plumaged Brant near the back of the cemetary (south end). The bird is very strange looking since it lacks the whitish area on the flanks and the head is brown, contrasting with the black neck and breast. Dave Irons Eugene, OR
