I am in the final stages of an agreement with National Audubon to allow the
scanning and reissue in searchable form on CD or the web of all field notes
from Oregon, Washington, western British Columbia and adjacent parts of
other reporting regions published in Audubon Field Notes, American Birds and
their successors from 1948-2001.
I am not sure yet who will do the scanning and which organization will issue
the final product, but this has needed doing for many years. I think NAS
will sign off pretty soon. ABA owns a few of the recent issues but when I
talked to them last year, they thought this was a good idea as long as it
didn't damage current subscriptions. Thus a five-year buffer.

"I think we have an administration today that is dysfunctional. And if it
can't get itself together to organize a serious program for finding nuclear
material on its way to the United States, then it ought to be replaced by an
administration that can," - Richard Perle, former Reagan assistant secretary
of defense, former Bush appointee on the Defense Policy Board.
