Millicoma Marsh, AM, rain showers, 60's:

It took a while, but the 1st winter HARRIS' SPARROW
popped up after about 1/2 hour wait at the seed along
the trail east of the parking area. Meanwhile, I was
able to get good looks at a CLAY-COLORED SPARROW that
was at the same seed patch. All the while a SWAMP
SPARROW was calling from the marsh north of the seed.
There were at least 3 WHITE-THROATED SPARROWS again
and a 4th at the seed along the trail north of the
football field. Other sparrow species at the seed
included: GOLDEN-CROWNED, WHITE-CROWNED, FOX, SONG,
LINCOLN, as well as S. TOWHEE and DARK-EYED JUNCOES.

Wet, warm and windy in Coos Bay,
Tim R
