of sight to the feeder in the front yard of the first house south of 10th on
the w. side of Alvadore Rd. The Summer Tanager is coming regularly to the
hexagonal hanging feeder in front of this house. When not at the feeder the
bird is often in the shrubbery in front of the house. I have also talked to
the homeowner of the first house on 10th (opposite the newspaper boxes).
Her name is Judy Stegner and she is quite friendly. She said people could
park in front of her house on the following conditions; Do not block the
garage. There is an older white Ford Ranger Pickup in front of the house.
This vehicle does not run and there is room for about two cars to park
behind it. Do not park along 10th St. It is a fairly narrow road and there
are several other houses beyond the Stegner's.
As long as folks adhere to these protocols, many people should be able to
see the bird without annoying local property owners. Take a spotting scope.
The described viewing area is about 75 yds from the feeder. Bins will
give you an okay view, a spotting scope should provide excellent views. By
all means do not enter the Jacobson's yard and don't stop along Alvadore Rd.
in front of the house. If you need a snack or a drink by all means buy it
at the local store.
Thanks and enjoy,
Dave Irons
