[obol] RE: White-fronted Geese on the Move

     At exactly 12:01 am, Oct. 1st, a large flock of Gr. White-fronted
Geese came over the Eugene area, heading south, very high in the clear
sky.  Since they often migrate in foggy weather at low altitude, these
were higher than I can recall of this species.  Other flocks followed.
They were all just barely within the threshold of hearing, but not even
close to the flying record of their cousins, the Bar-headed Geese, that
have been seen at 37,000 feet.
