[obol] Weird sea creature

When I posted our list from Saturday, I forgot to mention that Graham
spotted a sea monster heading south not far offshore that we could not
identify. This is a navy-gray catamaran, maybe 80 feet long with what I can
only call a neo-Viking curved prow to the twin hulls, with a high arching
frame from which hangs a small crew box accessible only by a ladder. Thus
the whole interior space of the vessel is empty below the crew box.

My theory is that it is intended to lift small boats or a research
submersible. Graham's theory is that it intended to insert military teams
in shallow-water areas.

We have a poor digiscoped photo available upon request, if anyone thinks
they can identify it.

I also forgot to mention that Bill and Zanah Stotz saw a male Ruff with
yellowlegs along south slough at Florence on Sep 28. South slough, also
called South Inlet, is accessible from Canary Rd; see map in Birds of Lane
County.
