Greetings OBOLers,

Today was a superb day for the 4th grade birders at Robert Frost Elementary:

Western Scrub Jays -10 + (flying across the grounds with acorns in their
beaks)
American Crow 5-10
Black-capped Chickadee 5
Red-breasted Sapsucker 1 (hanging around a Mountain Ash tree-lotsa holes)
Downy Woodpecker 2 (kids spotted one, I was a doubting Thomas until it was
in front of my nose)
House Finch 2
American Goldfinch +/- 5
Bushtits 15
Spotted Towhee 2
Song Sparrow 1

I think Friday was a bit more limited due to a noisy Jogathon going on in
front of the school. However, even those kids were excited with the species
they saw. Counting the Eurasian Starlings, we have seen 11 species so far.

Thanks also to Joel and Diane for articulate information from their towns
and schools. All I am is one volunteer in one school and the bigger picture
is more obvious from both of these folks.

Respectfully, And Good Birding !
John Thomas
