Today (10-02-06) at the Applegate River fall migration station (just west of Provolt, Josephine Co.) a total of 13 species, 46 individuals were captured; the list:
Black-capped Chickadee - 1
Winter Wren - 1 (1st fall capture)
Ruby-crowned Kinglet -1 (1st fall capture)
Swainson's Thrush - 2
Hermit Thrush - 2 (1st fall capture)
Wrentit - 7 (3 recaps from this yr)
Yellow Warbler - 1 (late-ish bird)
Yellow-rumped Warbler (Myrtle) - 7 (1st fall capture)
Yellow-rumped Warbler (Audubon's) - 5 (1st fall capture)
Spotted Towhee - 4 (still more previously un-captured birds)
Fox Sparrow - 7 (2 recaps, 1 from last yr)
Song Sparrow - 5
Lincoln's Sparrow - 2
Golden-crowned Sparrow - 1
A big increase in the number of birds at the site today; Yellow-rumps in good numbers for one. Two TURKEY VULTURES seen (big reduction from the 33 of the last session), about 10 VIOLET-GREEN SWALLOWS. A large flock of Pigeon-like birds seen way up there going south, was thinking Band-tails.
