Several weeks after the "migration count", the migrants are arriving.
First flocks of AMERICAN GOLDFINCHES drifted in, soon followed on Saterday
by a lone "OREGON" JUNCO, on Sunday by FOX & GOLD-CROWNED SPARROWS, and a
OLIVE SIDED FLYCATCHER .
Last week, a long line of BROWN PELICANS was seen flying south, RED-TAILED
HAWKS, SHARP-SHINNED HAWKS and a WHITE-TAILED KITE being chased by a
AMERICAN KESTRAL.
The usual suspects are here as well, ANNA'S HUMMINGBIRDS, BREWERS BLACKBIRD,
STELLERS JAY, SCRUB JAY, WHITE-CROWNED SPARROWS, PURPLE FINCHES, HOUSE
FINCHES, BLACK CAPPED AND CHESTNUT-BACKED CHICKADEES.
We also have new birds for this area, EURASIAN COLLARED DOVES.
I see them everytime I drive north on Oceanview Dr. in Harbor.
There is a small flock of them here and I've seen them up and down Oceanview
drive so I don't have to drive to Coos Bay to see one, their here and their
here to stay.
I don't see as many HOUSE SPARROWS as I use to see.
I wonder if my sparrow traps have anything to do with the dirth of HOUSE
SPARROWS?
Looks like it's time to drag out the webbed feed, hip boot waders, poncho
and umbrella, looks like the 'rainy season' is about to arrive.
