South Jetty of the Columbia River (SJCR): Clatsop County

CHESTNUT-COLLARED LONGSPUR

The bird was alone at the wnw point of beachgrass foredune at the base 
of the jetty. Smaller, much paler, and with much more white in the outer 
tail feathers than LAPLAND LONGSPURS that were around for indirect 
comparison near the west pond and on the beach. The bird called a 
musical "kiddle-kiddle," that is nothing like the dry rattle or short 
flight calls of Lapland longspur. I saw the bird only in flight twice.
