BANDING REPORT- Neawanna Wetland Preserve
10-12-2006

Method: Up to eight 9m mist nets are placed in mixed Oregon
Crabapple/Twinberry/Spruce along the the upper Neawanna River,
Seaside, Clatsop Co. OR. Captured birds are measured, ringed
with USBBL numbered metal bands and released. Data on time of
capture and side of net captured are also recorded to gain
an understanding of movements through the area.

Notes: We wrapped up the banding season today with a pretty good
showing of winter arrivals, including an obviously out-of-town
SONG SPARROW that was smaller, paler and had finer streaking than
the locals. We saw only one warbler all morning that flew over at
a height that made it unidentifiable. The call note suggested
Yellow-rumped, but it wasn't quite right...

Two LORQUIN'S ADMIRALS and a CALIFORNIA TORTOISESHELL were also
seen.
