I think the ABC is a very good conservation organization that is active here
in Oregon as well as throughout the nation.  If you would like to be
involved in a local charity, I highly recommend the East Cascades Bird
Conservancy.  Yes, I'm the President and I'm partial but it really does work
to conserve birds and birding habitat as well as promote birding in our
state.  If you would like to learn more about us, go to our website at

I recently received a request to donate (aka, "become a member") of the
American Bird Conservancy and realize that I know very little about the
various birding-related charities and that there must be a fountain of
knowledge at OBOL regarding worthwhile ones.  So what charities would you
recommend?  Is American Bird Conservancy a good one?

As background, I have been donating regularly to The Nature Conservancy and
Earth Share of Oregon and am a member of the ABA.
