This morning, 9/3, I heard a N. Pygmy Owl calling, first of the season. And a couple of late notes: 
on 8/27, Barn Swallows were attempting to fledge at my friend's barn west of Cottage Grove. On 8/28 about a mile from home I found a hen Turkey with about 8 egg-sized chicks that I estimate were no more than three days old.
