Hi all

The East Cascades Bird Conservancy is hosting a field trip to some birding
spots in the Sisters area, Deschutes County on Sunday 10th September. We
will be visiting Calliope Crossing and Camp Polk Preserve. This is an
excellent chance to see some of the more common mid elevation bird species
such as woodpeckers, pinyon jays and flycatchers. Migration is here and we
are hoping for a variety of warblers and other species. Camp Polk is a
great spot for rails. For those with an excess of energy, I will be calling
into the Redmond Sewage lagoons afterwards and welcome anyone for some
shore-birding.

Meeting place: One of two places.

At Dean Hale’s house in Bend (tel. 388 1770) at 7.15am
Or ….
At the Sisters City Park at 8.00 am. Please note there are two main parks
in Sisters and we are meeting at the one that is at the east end of town on
the north side of the road next to the river. There are signs from the main
road through Sisters.

Trips normally start winding down about 3 or 4pm. Calliope crossing
involves a very short walk although many birds can be seen from the causeway
without a hike. Camp Polk involves 2 miles of walking (on the flat) and we
will probably spend at least fours hours in this excellent area.

All trips are free to everyone and there is plenty of local knowledge to go
around. Of course, we do encourage anyone who is not a member of the East
Cascades Bird Conservancy to join and help conserve birds in Oregon.

Any questions get hold of me: 541 548 4430 or visit our web site at
