I forgot to mention that on 9/5 (yesterday) at Coos Bay North Spit Coos
Cty on the beach in the extremely thick fog (are you hot from living in
the valley? well head to the coast where we have had nothing but fog and
cool weather, and frankly I am sick of it and we could use some sun
here) was a junvenile BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPER.
Today at Tenmile Estuary (in the extremely thick fog again, what a
surprise!) 2 BLACK OYSTERCATCHERS were flying north along the beach.
When we saw them they were in Coos Cty, but they were headed quickly for
Douglas Cty line. That made me think, I bet Black Oystercatcher is a
good bird for Douglas Cty. There isn't much habitat for them in Douglas
Cty except maybe on the Umpqua Jetty. So Douglas Cty birders, is that
true? Is BLOY a good bird in your county?
Cheers
