Just back (early) from Malheur after 4 great birding days with Daniel Farrar
and various co-conspirators.

I have nothing to add to Daniel's report except that we saw the heaviest
movement of Orange-crowns that I can recall. Pretty much in every habitat,
even roadside sage, and in good habitat (e.g. Benson Pond willows and
Russian-olive, they were abundant, with perhaps 75-100 at Benson Pond and a
similar number around HQ.

Today (Monday 18th) numbers had dropped by about 50 percent. A group of us
spent two hours searching for the Magnolia and Tennessee without success.

The other thing that seemed noteworthy is that numbers and variety of
flycatchers were pretty good for 3rd week of September. We saw every
regular Oregon empidonax (multiple birds in many cases) and quite a few
pewees.

We'll get our data to Chuck Gates for incorporation into the Migration
Thing.
