Today there were 205 GREAT EGRETS with an exact 200 on Smith and 5 on Bybee,
loads of GREAT-BLUE HERONS and probably a few thousand ducks with several
hundred each of PIED-BILLED GREBE, AMERICAN WIGEON, and GREEN-WINGED TEAL.
There was one very cinnamony-colored CINNAMON TEAL. Other ducks were
NORTHERN SHOVELER, NORTHERN PINTAL, and GADWALL.

Only shorebirds seen were 11 GREATER YELLOWLEGS on Bybee. No warblers
except for COMMON YELLOWTHROAT.

There may be just one VAUX SWIFT at Basket-Slough, but there are hundreds at
S-B. Also lots of BARN SWALLOWS, several VIOLET-GREEN and one TREE.SWALLOW.

Raptors were one Cooper's Hawk, and two each of Red-tailed Hawk and Turkey
Vulture.

Notable by their absence were American Pippits, Common Merganser and
Double-crested Mergansers. Last year at this time there were about 100
Pippits there and good numbers of the other two. Also absent are Am. White
Pelicans which were present at this time at least the past two years.
