Birders -

While trying to find a Tennessee Warbler, I birded Rhinehart Canyon this
morning (9:00 AM - 11:30 AM - 09/22) from the HWY 82 access to the 'rock slide'
near the Philberg Road gravel pit. Large groups of migrants noticeable.
Highlights included:

2 - MERLIN (apparently taking advantage of the traffic)
8 - BEWICK'S WREN (becoming a breeding stronghold)
11 - PYGMY NUTHATCH (uncommon here)
31 - SPOTTED TOWHEE
24 - SLATE-COLORED FOX SPARROW (Doubles my previous cumulative county totals)
7 - LINCOLN'S SPARROW (following the FOSP)
Several hundred White-crowned & Chipping Sparrows (straining my neck)
12 - GRAY CATBIRD (conservative estimate)
3 - WILSON'S WARBLER
2 - ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER
1 - YELLOW-BREASTED CHAT

Good numbers of AMERICAN GOLDFINCHES & BLACK-CAPPED CHICKADEES too.

Good Birding,

- Trent
