I am curious to know how genetically close the ivory-billed woodpecker and the
pileated woodpecker were/are and if there is any evidence for hybridization?
Mueseum specimens? Is there molecular data?

Is there any chance that some or all of the "ivory-billed sightings" are
actually pileated woodpeckers expressing ivory-billed genes?
