Yesterday, 28 Sept. 2006 I birded the Necanicum Estuary briefly in the
late morning, then I went north on the beach to Sunset Beach access and
returned south again. Today I birded at Circle Creek and stopped only
briefly at the estuary. Complete notes are logged at http://birdnotes.net .
Highlights:
estuary:
Greater White-fronted Goose: 1 juvenile on the flats all alone--weird
(still there today, 29 Sept)
Greater Yellowlegs: 2
BAIRD'S SANDPIPER: 1 today
MERLIN: 1
American Pipit: 5
Beach:
Black-bellied Plover: 1
MARBLED GODWIT: 1
Whimbrel: 2
Sanderling: 30
Circle Creek 29 Sept.
I found a flock of about 5 BLACK-THROATED GRAY WARBLERS and 10 TOWNSEN'S
WARBLERS, as well as RUBY-CROWNED KINGLETS, A. ROBINS, and VARIED
THRUSHES. Also about 30 AMERICAN PIPITS and a LINCOLN'S SPARROW.
