I stopped by Sally's Bend this afternoon a little more than 2 hours after the
predicted high tide (HMSC) which is about when the mudflats just start to be
exposed. I was hoping to see shorebirds but saw none after an hour and half.
However, I did see 37 American Robins foraging on the beach just like
shorebirds....I know robins are versatile but it was still an odd sight. A
Peregrine Falcon came in once but didn't get anything and I watched a Mew Gull
follow a Great Blue Heron around eating in the areas it had just stirred up. 2
Turkey Vultures flew over as I was leaving...they are such beautiful birds when
they're aerial and you can't see those bumpy featherless heads too closely :-)
