Columbia Estuary Report - 4/4/2007

I spent the morning looking for new arrivals at Svensen Island
and Brownsmead. There were at least a dozen CLIFF SWALLOWS at
Svensen Island along with TREE and VIOLET-GREEN SWALLOWS. A herd
of TURKEY VULTURES were very interested in something that was
out in the middle of the north wetland. Also at Svesen Island
was a GREAT EGRET, 8 GREATER YELLOWLEGS, at least two CINNAMON
TEAL and other MISCELLANEOUS DUCKS.

Six to eight NORTHERN ROUGH-WINGED SWALLOWS were at Ziaks, but
no sign of any martins.

At least one OSPREY has returned to the nest on the railroad
trestle bridge at Station Rd.
