Last year during Spring term (though a little later in April) a massive
flock of American Goldfinches showed up on the park blocks. Lucky for me, my
French class was on the 3rd floor looking right out into the trees. Needless
to say I spent more time watching Goldfinches than learning French. Last
year they stayed around for about 3 weeks before departing to who knows
where. Today my classroom for my senior capstone "grant writing" got moved
to the same classroom that French was in. Lucky for me, a flock of roughly
50 American Goldfinches were actively feeding in the park block trees again.
I don't know if this was the first day they were there or not, but I'm
hoping that they'll stick around for a while again to keep me entertained,
they're so much fun! Mixed in were bushtits and chickadees, so it was busy
outside the windows.
