[obol] FW: Posting for Oregon Birds--emperor goose

Actually, this is surprising to me. I lived in central and southern
Curry (including Harbor area, south of Brookings) for many years and had
excellent experiences with state parks staff (as I continue to do so
here in Coos county). In fact, one of the best birders I have ever met
was employed in the Harris Beach/Lone Ranch parks.

Keep in mind folks that rangers are not generally
naturalists/botanists/zoologists and can be easiest described as a law
enforcement officer for the park system. Also, I would highly suggest
that you provide for any park worker some written documentation (if
nothing else, write it on a napkin from the glove box) telling them the
common name, location, time, etc. Ask them to pass it along to anyone in
the department who is interested in birds. Five minutes after you meet
and speak with them they could encounter another situation which will
cause them to forget about your conversation completely.

Just had 3 GREEN HERONS fly over the house (east to west) in the midst
of a hailstorm. I have never seen more than 2 in formation, so pretty
interesting for me. :)

Have a great morning all...
