I took my 5 1/2 year old grandson to Ridgefield (WA) today, hoping we could
look for yellow-headed blackbirds while eating lunch. We didn't see any
today, but saw all the usual ducks and cackling geese. After we got through
the woods and came out where one can look to the bald eagle's nest, a GOLDEN
EAGLE glided by, looking as if it were wearing a caramel-colored cape -
beautifully visible. It looked exactly like the one I saw a week and a half
ago with Washington County's resident eagle expert, so I feel pretty
confident that it was indeed a golden eagle and not an immature bald.
My grandson was most enthralled by the train. He did learn to identify
mallards and coots, a beginning!
