Dear All,
I received an e-mail earlier this afternoon from someone who
lives in east Portland who told me that she has a male Calliope Hummingbird
coming to her feeder. She also sent me a photo of the bird. I went to see
the bird and found it in the trees in her backyard near the feeder shortly
after I arrived. She is willing to have others come see the bird. For more
information see her message below.
Sincerely,
Tim Janzen
Portland

Subject: Calliope Notice
Adult male Calliope Hummingbird has been in the garden several days, but my
husband, Jim could not tell me what it was. I saw it for the first time
today.
If you would like to see the bird, I live at 3309 NE 157th Pl, Portland Or
97230. Phone # 503 256 2203 if you want to check to see if its still around
before coming out. The important cross street is NE 162nd ave and NE
Freemont Street (turn west on NE Freemont); the next important cross street
is NE Freemont and NE 157th Place which is a cul de sac.
No one will be around tomorrow to tell you if the bird is still here, so
just come into the backyard and look around.
The bird is spending a great deal of time in the backyard, so come through
the unlocked gate. East gate would be best, go through the back yard to the
east side garden. Calliope is most often in the conifer by the greenhouse or
at the nearby feeder.
Enjoy.
Sandy
